When water mains break and snow threatens, the Blue and Gold gets rescheduled.
February marks the annual celebration of the formation of Cub Scouting in America. Unfortunately February can also bring unpredictable weather to our area. In addition to a spate of school closings for ice or snow, our students were also sent home early on the day of the Blue and Gold Banquet due to a water main break. With the school closed, our event needed to be rescheduled!
We made March an extra special month of "firsts" by shifting the Blue and Gold to the first week in addition to hosting the Pack's first ever Pinewood Derby!
The Blue and Gold was so much fun with an Italian Potluck, handbook style cakes, and Family Talent Show! Pack 285 may be small be we sure are mighty! Dinner was delicious and healthy. As always our families prove that they know how to cook a terrific meal.
Unlike at a typical Pack Meeting, where we sit with our dens, the Blue and Gold allows families to sit with new or old friends. Folks move fluidly from table to table as they eat, chat, and chase their children.
Of course some of our fellows prefer to sit with their buddies and not with their parents! It's especially gratifying to see the old boys spending time with the Tiger scouts.
No matter what we do, Pack 285 never gets far from our core principle "family first". Siblings are encouraged to take an active role in our various events. The "sisters" of Pack 285 certainly enjoy their time together!
