Getting Ready to ROLL!

Inaugural Races ~ The Pinewood Derby Comes to Pack 285

Late nights were had by many Pack 285 families this week in preparation for our first-ever Pinewood Derby!  Lyndon was on his second car at 6:00AM this morning. Wheels were racing to be added to Cade and Jace's cars at 9:00AM. All around North Fulton parents and scouts were putting the final touches on their vehicles.

Thank you to Ahmed Said for volunteering at our Check-in Table.  He was responsible for weighing and then checking the length and clearance on all cars as well as moving approved cars to the Impound Lot prior to the race. He also attributed each car to the correct owner/racer and assigned their race numbers.
THANK YOU!

Another shout out goes to our Pit Crew Leader, Kai Hernandez, who undertook helping others with weight and clearance issues.  Pooling advice and ideas from other parents, Kai played an important role in preparing all of our cars to run. As a first-timers we all needed a little extra help today!  THANK YOU!

In addition to thanking Pack 985 who loaned us their expertise and track for today's event, we need to thank those who provided assistance setting up the track and operating it during the races.  Thank you to Jason and Melissa Blalock (not pictured), Steve Jackson and Cynthia Kahn!  You call some good races, folks!

We also had a very special helper today!  Thank you to the eldest Repole sister for her assistance staffing our snack booth. Salma is a budding entrepreneur who made and sold para-cord bracelets and donated a portion of her proceeds to the Friends of Scouting! In addition to selling her wares, she made change and handle the sales of snacks and bottled water.  THANK YOU!

A final THANK YOU to Cyndi Said for taking these terrific pictures and the many, many to follow.  Thank you also to Kandice Edgerson for volunteering her time and to all the parents who rustled up kids, secured wheels to cars, and generally made this a terrific event.  You are all the very best!
