We are ALL Stars!

It's a Family Talent Show

When a family talent show was first mentioned, the Pack 285 Committee members looked mighty skeptical. Who knew what great fun it would turn out to be?!

The line-up included three instruments, two dance numbers, two comedians, a skit, wrestling demonstrations and a pie-in-the-face toss!

We opened with a scout-led Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem played on the saxophone by Steve Jackson, Committee Chair.

Then our Bears demonstrated several of the wrestling moves! The Tigers and Wolves were excited to see that they could "push each other around" in the years to come.

Two scouts shared jokes with us.  We all heard the sidewalk joke.  It's all around town!

We also stretched our arms and legs to a group YMCA dance.  Admittedly our dance moves were a little rusty but I saw some professionals out there in the audience!

The audience was enrapture though from the sounds of Melissa Blalock and her flute.  Playing a selection of children's tunes, she was able to get all of us to sing along.  Our favorite? Old McDonald had a Den!

The Wolf Den showcased an elaborate skit on the "history" of Cub Scouts in America.  They created their own props and costumes as well as sound effects.  Reis was our behind-the-scenes Sound Technician!

Did you  know that alien cub scouts once visited Earth?

Or that ancient Egyptian mummies were found dressed in Cub Scout uniforms?

What do you mean that's not true?!  Darn it!

Jaden entertained us with drumming on cans.  Afterwards several of the scouts were eager to try their hands at a similar skill.  We literally had to "beat" them away!  Why?  Because it was time for the......

PIE TOSS!!

The ability to take a PIE IN THE FACE WITH GOOD GRACE is a carefully refined talent.  We are so fortunate that Cubmaster, Jason Blalock, possess this unique skill.  The honor of attempting a toss was given to the highest popcorn sellers in each den.  Our Tiger tosser received some special coaching from the Wolf Den Leader who encouraged a stealth approach...from very close range!  Way to go Christian!

The irony was not lost on us as the Wolf high seller was none other than...Jaden Blalock!  Yes, he put a pie squarely on HIS FATHER's FACE!  Great job, Jaden!

For the Bear team, it was serious business.  Look at that concentration!  His toss was so fast and accurate that no one caught a picture of the pie in the air!  Great job J'far!

Another fast toss by the Webelos team put a huge smile on Mustafa's face!  Great job!

In the end, Mr. Blalock was begging for a towel!  Well done to all of our pie tossers!

Closing out the night in true Pack 285 style were our sisters singing and dancing to the classic "So Long, Farewell" from the Sound of Music. Dressed in pjs and sporting blankets and dolls as props, these young ladies wow'd the whole audience with their charm and skill.

Like all great events, the Blue and Gold finally came to an end.  Until next year my friends....
